As an important subproject of the 700,000-ton/year sulphuric acid project of Jinchuan Group's key construction projects, the sulphur dioxide converter is the flue gas treatment and environmental protection project supported by the company's new nickel smelting system, and it is also one of the core equipments of the smelter flue gas acid production system. The equipment is located in the center of the system and has a cylindrical appearance. It is 22 meters high and 15 meters in diameter. It can handle 280,000 standard cubic meters of flue gas per hour. Its appearance size and flue gas handling capacity are the highest in the world.

In terms of converter design and installation, Jinchuan summarized the operation experience of 530,000 tons/year and 300,000 tons/year of sulfuric acid system, and changed the original layer one gas outlet to a multi-level variable joint export, so as to ensure Smoke is evenly distributed and distributed in all areas. This innovative result has been fully reflected in the design and installation of a 700,000-ton/year sulfuric acid converter. In addition, all the equipment uses stainless steel materials with large thermal denaturation, so that the overall thermal denaturation of the equipment is reduced, and the stress concentration of the equipment during normal operation is avoided.

The technological innovation of sliding bearings is another highlight of the converter. The invention is characterized in that a diamond-shaped graphite slider is embedded on the sliding surface of the bearing slider according to the characteristics of the thermal stress of the converter and the sliding direction of the slider. This utility model technology ensures that the frictional force of the converter is almost the same at all points in the radial direction, which prevents the graphite slider from appearing a dead angle of lubrication and can effectively improve the operational safety of the converter.
